Do you all remember the first time you felt like a true honest-to-goodness adult?
I do (though I was far from it at the ripe old age of 13).
It was July 1996 (I only remember the date so vividly because I flew into LaGuardia – alone – two days after the TWA disaster). I was visiting my Aunt, Uncle, and Cousin Jane for a long week and had plans to hop from Greenwich to Manhattan and Quogue before...

This week…
Where do I even start with explaining this? I had a revelation of sorts on Monday. The stress, the pressure, the feeling of constantly having to raise the bar that I’ve placed upon myself has got to stop.
I- for as long as I can remember- have been my own worst critic. I constantly feel that I’m the only person in the world that can really push myself as far as...

a pair of paisley pants
I stand for many things. For second chances, for the Wolfpack winning an NCAA championship of any sort [because no one is holding their breath for our football team], for true love, for grilled cheese sandwiches being their own food group, and for wearing clothing that feels like a pair of pajamas.
I’ll give you a hint: this ensemble MIGHT be cozier than all my Lulu outfits. Combined. Yes, I’m...

I’m loving this Cheap Monday racerback dress. Would be super cute as a cover-up or with a bandeau bra for a chic, laid back look. I’d personally throw on with a sweet lacy bra, fedora, and a great pair of strappy wedges.
oh, and I forgot to mention the best part! it’s only $30 (marked down @ Shopbop). go forth and purchase.

Though Saturday evening was a wash, Friday evening was quite spectacular.
We caught up with dear friends over cocktails @ Rutledge Cab Company where I discovered the greatest Gullah Gimlet that has ever graced the Earth and then high-tailed it The Macintosh for the most consistently fantastic meal I can remember.
Let me preface the experience by saying this- I was totally bananas in my...

I was just sitting down to fill you all in on my weekend in Charleston…
more specifically- to complain about how I got sick immediately following the Masami Ranch Wagyu Beef Tartare portion of Saturday evenings 4 course meal
about how we had to re-cork our fancy-to-us bottle of Syrah and brown bag it back to the apartment
me in ridiculous stilettos that had no business amongst...

on kindness
Last week, after being engulfed in the sadness and fear that struck all of our hearts following Monday’s events in Boston, I received two of the kindest emails.
They arrived in my inbox almost simultaneously. From two very different individuals in two separate parts of the country. It was overtly obvious to me that these notes hadn’t been synchronized in any fashion. Only, the...

wednesday wonders
I could navigate Shopbop everyday for the rest of my life and ALWAYS stumble upon something new and exciting [which doesn’t bode well for my bank account]. Last week was the flat sandal search (I finally went with these in Papaya) and this week— well, the entire site is 20% off.
Peruse at your own risk.
Here are a few of my [most recent] favorites:

why I can't take myself [too] seriously
I was having one of “those” days yesterday. One where I’m off in my dreamland and not paying a whole hell of a lot of attention to what’s going on around me. I had already aced a 100 person presentation that morning [YES!] and was floating around in my lala land while grabbing lunch to-go.
I walked out of the restaurant with my diet lemonade in hand, unlocked my car, and...

Boston & the Bond of Runners →
I once had a running friend tell me, “I’ve never met a runner I don’t like.” And as I thought about his statement, I agreed with him. It’s always an instant connection – “oh you run? Me too!” In fact, the majority of my friends are runners and the majority of runners I’ve met, I’d like to be my friend.

“For one for all. For 26.2 and 3.1. For one breath longer and one inch further. For summer shorts and winter jackets. For Gaga and Def Leppard. Together we stand and united…. we run.”
I posted this a few years ago. Since then, I have emailed it to friends for motivation as they stared their biggest running challenges in the face. Of course this tragedy hits much deeper than just the Marathon...

Despite the Losses, So Much Gained →
I opened my email yesterday morning and a link to this article was sitting in my inbox from my Momma.
Perhaps a little back story is necessary here. Leah is a dear friend of my cousin Jane’s.
I recommend reading with a full box of Kleenex.

As you all know, I have a big mouth. I LOVE to promote items that I am fond of & trust me when I say that if you have me on board as a happy customer, I will tell EVERYONE [that will listen] what a huge fan I am.
Which makes me super excited to announce this fun giveaway I’ve partnered with my friend Kilbi to bring you all. Kilbi is at the helm of Kilbi Branch Designs and she artfully hand...
