I’m not what one would call an adventurous cosmetic connoisseur. I just decided last year that it was about time for me to start wearing foundation so I can’t exactly hold the “Miss Makeup” crown firmly above my head.
However, I do know a good product when I see [try] one and these two things my friends… they are great.
Origins Active Charcoal Mask helps release jammed pores, absorb environmental toxins, and dissolve impurities. Great for stubborn blackheads and leaves your skin feeling like you just had a $200 facial. Only you didn’t. But don’t tell anyone— you can keep that our little secret.
Given my love-hate relationship with expensive lipstick [I love it and it hates to remain firmly in place on my lips] this Laqa & Co. Big Fat Lip Pencil is my newest obsession. Take one swipe of the pencil over your lips for a natural color or two for a bold, dramatic look. & sharpening necessary here, folks. I have this in the Ring of Fire shade— perfect for summer! (ps- Laqa also makes a nailpolish pen which I’m pretty sure would be the only way I could ever properly paint my nails myself]
There you have it- my two product endorsements found thanks to my June Birchbox [and my sweet friend, M].

As tradition states, the gift for your 3rd anniversary should be leather. And you know what that means…
shoes!
Kidding. Kind of.

Three has always been our favorite number.
Thus, one would think that the third year of marriage would clearly have been best of the best. These 365 days have been sprinkled with some difficult ones. Our hills and peaks have been met with tremendous valleys. Ones that we never could have imagined we would have to forge. Such is life, no? That you’ve got to hold on for a wild ride while things you never expected are thrust your direction.
Our year began with news we’d been praying for. What a surprise to hear that our tiny flickering heart would arrive on 3/3. Aside from your unlucky brush with destiny on that same date a handful of years earlier, we couldn’t be more overjoyed. And then just like that, our little flicker vanished. I could explain the rest of the story for all the world to read here but we know what happened next.
All the while, you by my side. You- knowing when I needed a pat on the back, a strong hand to hold, or a stern talking to. You with your matter-of-factness and your unwavering character. You with the sense to understand [almost] everything about me and still love me with your whole heart all the while.
Occasionally, I stop to think about why I fell in love with you in the first place. My head immediately fills with a menagerie of words and more often than not I come up with the answer that I always hoped I would; the proverbial “glass slipper” that I always dreamed of. The better question instead is: How could I NOT have fallen in love with you.
Today, three years have passed since a church full of our loved ones stood with us and promised to love and support us along this journey. This unexpected journey that I wouldn’t quite have laid out exactly as this if fate were in my own hands. But one I wouldn’t care to make with anyone but you.
Here’s to three, thirteen, and thirty more my love.
your adoring wife

The weekend before last [shame on me for being so lax with my camera uploads] my brother and Katie were the guests of honor at a delightful cookout in honor of their engagement. It was a terrific evening spent with friends & delicious food and it certainly was the best way to kick-off what will surely be a whirlwind of wedding events over the coming months.
Cheers to the happy couple!
& here’s what I wore: high-low maxi dress (or as my Internet friends call it- a mullet hem): Target // necklace: Sweetie Pie // shoes: Matiko (on sale!); still love this similar style // sunnies: House of Harlow
